Port Stephens MultiSport Festival – Course Update

The team have been out checking the course ready for next weekend’s event.  Like the previous event the recent rain has impacted some of the trails within Tomaree National Park, however, the good news is that a contingency plan has been put in place and we are able to move forward with the event as planned.

What’s Changed?

On part of the TreX MTB course and the Trail Run Australia TRA21 Half Marathon and TRA12.5k course there are some short sections of fire trail which have water across them.  These sections have been ridden and driven to ensure they are passable.  These sections will be marked with warning signs and cones showing where to ride/run to ensure you stay on the hardened road base underneath, and like always when you’re racing, athletes are to show due caution when traversing these section.

There are two short sections on Sewer Trail on the TreX MTB Course between CP 5 and CP 6, and three short sections at the northern end of Anna Bay Boreline Road near CP 7.

One of the steep fire trail climbs on the TRA Half Marathon and TRA12.5 has also been bypassed onto the adjacent fire trail to avoid the deep water.

This means that in these sections your feet will get wet, so please plan for this when choosing your footwear for on the bike and on the trail run.

These sections have been highlighted on the updated map for your reference.
