SUNSHINE COAST – In2Adventure are excited to announce that after the recent rain, the Sunshine Coast MultiSport Festival will go ahead as planned on 25 & 26 May. The weekend will include the TreX Cross Triathlon Series Championships and the Sunshine Coast MTB Festival hosted at beautiful Ewen Maddock Dam.
We would like to say a very special thank you to the team at National Parks who have worked with us and given their valuable time to develop suitable contingency plans to facilitate the hosting of the event.
For the past week, in conjunction with National Parks, we have been monitoring local weather, and the conditions on site. Due to rain yesterday, that was not forecast, the hosting of the event was in doubt.
Working with National Parks we were able to develop a plan that would enable us to deliver a safe and enjoyable event, while also taking into consideration any possible impact to the trails and the environment.
Implementing these plans means that the event can go ahead as advertised. The plans will impact what goes on behind the scenes, however, the good news is that there will be little change to the event from an athlete’s perspective.
The only minor change for athletes is that on the MTB course, a section of fire trail between check point 5 and check point 6, which is soft clay has been removed, and replaced with single track.
Trails at Ferny Forest Closed
Currently the trails at Ferny Forest are closed due to the rain yesterday. This will allow them to drain over the next few days. We ask athletes to please respect this closure, and to leave any pre-event rides or runs to event morning.
Current Weather Forecast
Currently the weather forecast up until the weekend is looking good with only a chance of minimal showers forecast and sun on the weekend, however, neither National Parks nor ourselves can predict the future, we can only make decisions based on the best information available to us now.
Weather forecasts can change, and if in the very unlikely event that there is heavy rain before Saturday, the event may need to be reviewed again, however, we will continue to monitor conditions.
We would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding during what has been a challenging few weeks and look forward to welcoming you all to the spectacular Sunshine Coast for a weekend of off road action.
