Swim Cancelled at Tomorrow’s TreX Cross Triathlon and the Course will now be a Cross Duathlon

We are very sad to advise that the swim at tomorrow’s TreX Cross Triathlon and Triathlon Queensland State Championships has had to be cancelled due to poor water quality.  We are so sorry for the very late notice, however, we have only been advised this afternoon that the water quality tests which we carry out before each event did not pass the necessary standards for safe swimming.

We understand this will be very disappointing for all of our amazing athletes who have trained so hard for the triathlon, however, as the safety of our athletes is our number one priority there was no other option then to cancel the swim.

The good news however, is that the team have been working hard on developing and implementing a  contingency plan, and tomorrows event will now be a Duathlon including the following courses:

DUATHLON COURSES

STANDARD TRIATHLON & DUATHLON ENTRANTS: 3.5k Trail Run (1 x 3.5k lap) – 28.5k MTB (3 x 9.5k laps) – 7k Trail Run (2 x 3.5k laps)

STANDARD AQUABIKE: 28.5k MTB (3 x 9.5k laps)

SPRINT TRIATHLON & DUATHLON ENTRANTS: 3.5k Trail Run (1 x 3.5k laps) – 9.5k MTB (1 x 9.5k lap) – 3.5k Trail Run (1 x 3.5k laps)

SPRINT AQUABIKE: 9.5k MTB (1 x 9.5k lap)

TEASER TRIATHLON & DUATHLON ENTRANTS: 1k Trail Run (1 x 1k lap) – 4k MTB (1 x 4k lap) – 1k Trail Run (1 x 1k lap)

DIRT KIDS: 200m Trail Run – 1.5k MTB – 500m Trail Run.

EVENT START

The start of the event will be from the beach in wave starts with runners heading straight into the 3.5k run lap from the beach.

STATE CHAMPS & WQE

We have been liaising with Triathlon Queensland and it has been confirmed that the event will still be the Queensland Championships and a qualifying race for the world championships for both triathlon and duathlon.

EVENT TIMINGS

All event times including registration, transition opening and start times etc remain the same.

Once again, we know you will be as disappointed about this situation as we are, and it is so unfortunate that this has happened, however, the bike and run course are looking great and are riding and running very fast, so we look forward to welcoming you all tomorrow for our new Duathlon course.
